Monster Hunter Wilds PERFORMANCE BOOST Incoming! 100+ Improvements! (2026)

Monster Hunter Wilds is getting a major performance overhaul next week, and the changes could change everything you experienced at launch. While the game introduced notable steps forward for the franchise, it didn’t land as strongly as Monster Hunter World or Monster Hunter Rise. The main pull for many players was the high bar set by those titles, but Wilds struggled with a low challenge ceiling early on and persistent performance problems on both PC and consoles.

Capcom is finally leaning into those criticisms. The Ver. 1.0.4.00 update, scheduled for December 16, will roll out CPU and GPU optimizations across all hardware, accompanied by a suite of enhancements designed to streamline the game’s workload. Key improvements include:
- Frame distribution adjustments, refined collision detection, and a reduction in simultaneous effects to speed up processing.
- A reduced overall load by cutting out unnecessary processing tasks.
- More than 100 under-the-hood improvements spanning players, monsters, Seikret, Palicoes, NPCs, the GUI, effects, gimmicks, and other systems.

The core promise here is the removal of redundant processing, which many players suspected was at the heart of the performance issues. Early data indicated that GPU data streaming and aggressive texture decompression during camera motion contributed to stuttering and frame drops. These targeted optimizations aim to address those bottlenecks directly.

This update is just the opening act. A PC-specific update will follow next month, with additional optimizations planned for February, signaling Capcom’s ongoing commitment to smoothing performance across platforms.

Beyond performance, the update also introduces fresh content: the Gogmazios monster, nine-star tempered versions, a tempered 9★ Rathalos roaming the Scarlet Forest and Oilwell Basin at Hunter Rank 100, weapon balance tweaks, and support for new paid cosmetics. Complete patch notes are available on the game’s official site.

If these performance fixes truly take hold across all formats, Monster Hunter Wilds could finally reach a much more stable and enjoyable state later this month. Producer Yuya Tokuda even expressed hope that more players might return to the game once it performs reliably again.
