Inter Miami CF has bolstered its goalkeeping ranks with the acquisition of Canadian goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair, who has signed a deal through the 2026 MLS season, with an option for 2027. The 28-year-old, a two-time MLS All-Star and the 2025 Goalkeeper of the Year, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to the club.
St. Clair's journey began in the semiprofessional leagues of Ontario, Canada, before he joined the University of Maryland in 2015. He quickly made a name for himself, guiding the Maryland Terrapins to four seasons of strong goalkeeping. His talent was recognized when he was selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2019 MLS Superdraft by Minnesota United.
Over the next few years, St. Clair established himself as a cornerstone of Minnesota's defense, making his first MLS All-Star selection in 2022 and being named MVP of the All-Star Game. However, it was in 2025 that he truly shone, earning the prestigious Goalkeeper of the Year award. During this season, he led the league with an impressive 77.93% save percentage, recording the most saves (113) and clean sheets (10) across 30 regular-season appearances. His performance was so outstanding that he became the only goalkeeper in 2025 to maintain a goals-against average of 1.00 while achieving a save percentage above 75%.
His success with Minnesota didn't go unnoticed, as he was called up to the Canadian national team in 2021, making his debut in a Concacaf World Cup Qualifying match. St. Clair has since made 18 appearances for Canada and is expected to be a key player in the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Now, as a free agent, St. Clair joins Inter Miami CF, adding his expertise and proven quality to the team's goalkeeping unit. With his contract extending through June 2026, he will undoubtedly be a valuable asset as the club continues to build its legacy in the MLS.
