Jonbon, who beat Energumene in last season's Ascot Grade 1, has finished second to L'Eau Du Sud and Il Etait Temps in his two starts this campaign. Despite being beaten nine lengths by Il Etait Temps last month, Jonbon's Racing Post Rating was just 3lb shy of his best, making him the 9-2 second favourite behind Il Etait Temps.
Meanwhile, Nico de Boinville, who has ridden Jonbon 11 times, is set to partner Old Park Star in the Supreme Trial at Haydock. Old Park Star, a six-year-old owned by Gordon and Su Hall, has won both starts for Henderson since joining from Paul Nicholls and is a best-price 4-5 favourite with Ladbrokes.
De Boinville, who's been on the sidelines since a heavy fall at Cheltenham, will need to be on top form to take on the likes of Il Etait Temps and Jonbon. And with Cobden's new role with McManus starting in May, this could be a crucial partnership for the leading rider.
