A dramatic fire has erupted in an industrial area, forcing firefighters into a challenging battle against the flames. With a significant response, at least 14 fire crews comprising around 75 personnel are actively engaged in combating the intense blaze that is threatening to spread further.
This large fire has severely impacted a carpet warehouse located on Seeleys Road in Greet, Birmingham, causing extensive damage to Sam Carpets and reportedly two additional large units nearby. As the fire raged on, startling explosions accompanied by loud crashing and popping sounds could be heard from considerable distances, indicating the severity of the situation.
Towering columns of thick black smoke billowed hundreds of feet into the sky, creating a spectacle visible from various parts of the city. Dramatic aerial footage captured by drones illustrates the extensive scale of the inferno as fire crews tirelessly work to contain it.
The West Midlands Fire Service swiftly mobilized 14 fire engines, four hydraulic platforms, high-volume pumps, and other specialized equipment to douse the flames with water. The emergency services were alerted to the incident at 7:13 PM and reached the scene in less than five minutes, demonstrating their rapid response capability.
Currently, firefighters are strategically operating in three specific sectors, working diligently to prevent any further spread of the fire, which is centered in a large two-story factory unit within the Tyseley Industrial Estate.
According to the latest updates shared by the West Midlands Fire Service via their social media channels, they emphasized, "Our teams continue to combat this major fire with 14 fire engines and various specialized tools on site, indicating that we will be on the scene for an extended duration. Local residents are urged to steer clear of the area and keep their windows and doors shut to avoid smoke inhalation."
